Johnson County Prevention Specialist
Johnson County is soliciting qualified applicants for a Prevention Specialist. The Prevention Specialist will be housed in the Johnson County Health Department as part of Johnson County’s commitment to public health and safety. The position will report directly to the Johnson County Public Health Nurse and serve as an ex-officio member of the Johnson County Board of Health.
The Prevention Specialist will be responsible for substance abuse prevention activities, general coalition needs, for the Substance Abuse Prevention Program, Tobacco Prevention and Control Program. The successful applicant will be expected to provide ongoing assistance to meet the general needs of Johnson County’s substance abuse prevention workforce and community coalitions in accomplishing prevention outcomes.
Under the funding agreement, the Prevention Specialist will dedicate their time in the following areas:
16%-26% – Adult binge drinking
18%-28% – Underage alcohol use
14%-24% – Tobacco prevention
04%-14% – Opioid/prescription drug and other drug
23%-33% – Suicide prevention
Responsibilities include: community prioritization of prevention; identify and develop strategies; create a capacity enhancement and work plan; attend applicable trainings; coordinate with statewide prevention coordinator; attend applicable coalition meetings; and any additional tasks as requested by the Public Health Nurse or County Commissioners.
This position is a grant funded position and subject to available funds through the Wyoming Department of Health.
Salary Range: $45,000 to $50,000 plus benefits
Successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, have a valid driver’s license, and will be subject to random drug testing. Opening will be posted from June 29th through July 13th.
